Assignment 1: Photo Blog
This assignment
evaluates students’ academic writing skills. It also evaluates the student’s ability to
research information to support the arguments proposed in the blog, to cite the
sources of information and also to provide a list of references. Additionally,
it allows for increased feelings of ownership of knowledge and learning that supports
realistic and authentic ways to participate in learning.
OBJECTIVES OF THIS ASSIGNMENT
The
objectives of this project are as follows:
- To demonstrate the principles of communication and behaviour in analyzing interaction with others, both at individual and at group levels.
LEARNING OUTCOMES OF
THIS ASSIGNMENT
The learning outcomes of this assignment are:
· Apply the principles of
communication and behaviour in analyzing interaction with others, both at
individual and at group levels.
- To be aware of the importance of cultural differences and
respect cultural differences as well as to build healthy and positive
relationships with fellow students, co-workers and clients.

To communicate the relevant ideas in a clear, logical and appropriate academic
English.

We had to choose a
location of a state anywhere in Malaysia so my group chose Penang, specifically
in Georgetown.

Reflection
Going to Penang as a
group with friends is very enjoyable, i had fun, and i've learned a lot. I've
learned that teamwork is very important and that you must cooperate well
together. We divided tasks, some individuals shows which tasks they want to do
which shows them what they can do or what they're capable of. Some task is
something which i don't know how to do, i learned how to do it, by seeing them.
The trip was somewhat tiring, we were sweating under the hot sun but it was all
worth it, walking around seeing all those street arts, climbing up the stairs
and many more, it was such an adventure. The presentation really went well with me getting an 'A-' individually whereas the others got good results as well. It was thanks to the work that we've done together.

Assignment 2: Comparing 2 Businneses

The group consists of 5 people:

We were given an assignment to compare the analysis of two
businesses of similar industry in different geographical locations. We chose to
compare businesses in Penang and in Klang Valley on seafood restaurants. The
seafood restaurant we chose in Penang is Bali Hai Seafood Restaurant which is
located in Gurney Drive and in Klang Valley we chose Bubba Gump Shrimp Co,
which is located in Sunway Pyramid. After completing and analysis the report,
we found out that Bali Hai would be the more commercially successful business
compared to Bubba Gump. Besides that, the similarity of the two businesses is
that both are having monopolistic competition.

Reflection
This assignment really helped most of the students to
learn how to communicate/interact better with people such as the interviews that my group had in the two businesses. I was one of those in the group who interviewed one of the two interviewees, it was nerve-wracking. It took me a while to feel comfortable talking with the person. it happened when i tried to talk naturally and try to be friendly, it was an experience that will definitely help me in the future.
